Deputy Chief Scott Sorenson


Scott's primary responsibilities include fire district field operations, training and logistics.

Scott began his fire service career in 1979 as a volunteer with Fire District 3. He has served on an Engine Crew with the Washington Department of Natural Resources, as a Volunteer EMS Responder/Driver/Volcano Rescue Team Member with North Country EMS, and as a Volunteer Firefighter with Clark County Fire District 10. Hired at Fire District 3 in 1982, he has served as a career Firefighter, Lieutenant, Captain, Division Chief, and Deputy Chief. He serves as an Operations Section Chief with Washington Incident Management Team 1 (a Type II IMT).

Scott holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration (Warner Pacific College), and an Associate of Science Degree in Fire Protection Technology (Portland Community College). He is also a graduate of the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer Program.

Scott is a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, the Washington State Association of Fire Chiefs, and the Clark County Fire Chiefs Association Training Division. He currently serves as chair of the Training Division.

Scott and his wife Mary, a teacher a Prairie High School, have three children. The family resides in Venersborg. Family interests include youth sports, schools, hunting, fishing and motor sports.
