The Training Program's mission is to ensure that all Fire District 3 personnel are trained to safely and effectively suppress, manage, and/or control emergency situations common to the District.
Training sessions are an important factor contributing to the overall competency and confidence portrayed by District members. District personnel are held to the following as a guide for building self-confidence.
The District has established opportunity along with Portland Community College for student firefighters per year to participate in our intern program. Students can earn at a least three credits per quarter while learning the profession from career duty personnel.Several college accredited courses with District personnel as instructors and students (outside personnel attend too) are offered annually. Credit earned is given residency status: Firefighter Skills, Recruit Academy, various wildland courses, Hazardous Materials-Operations Level, Fire Officer, etc.
